The time capsule: a journey of heritage through time

The time capsule: a journey of heritage through time

The time capsule is a journey of heritage through time.

A first of its kind in Lebanon, this initiation has been recreated for academics at the Université Antonine on July 30th 2014, which happens to be International Friendship Day. A time capsule entirely made of steel, filled with graduates memories, the institution’s staff and professors’ personal items; is to be opened in a decade after being buried on campus.

Among 120 participants in this project, some graduating students have put a letter, photos, necklaces, t-shirts; while others have placed a mobile phone or a wine bottle. The Antonine fathers have chosen to lay a Holy Bible.

The Université Antonine will stay in touch those participants and alumni each year, through a countdown video, offering them updates regarding the institution and reminding them of this time capsule till the day arrives; when they will hopefully come back with their families.

The belongings were all preserved with synthetic bags and labeled with ID numbers, names and this common quote:

â€œThe time capsule is a journey of heritage through time.”
